An Exhibition and Archival Spatial Design

// The 2020 Covid pandemic was an alarm that made us realize that the social and cultural changes of the society that are intangible is not being documented or shared among the society. There are billions of stories, sacrifices, and achievements by communities all around the world to withstand these time that are considered a part of our cultural heritage to be carried on to the future generations.

The term Monologue is a cinematic term meaning the idea of embodying reality in different visual ways, in which the local community’s stories of cultural changes are exhibited through the adaptive re-use of two significant cultural buildings, Cinema Alkhayyam /CIN and Jordan previous-Post Office /PO that are present opposite to each other in Weibdeh neighborhood in Amman, Jordan.

The use of the cinema building mainly as exhibitions in different forms to tell the stories of the society, while the post office building as place of documentation of cultural changes of the current local Community and links it to the cultural heritage of documentation around the world.

Adaptive re-use is looking into the previous functions of space and adapting to the same spirit, reviving the memories of the spaces. The idea of re looking into the neglected cinemas and implementing Avant Garde of cinemas by the use of cinematic illuminations through the manipulation of light, space of motion, technology and expression
